PHOTOGRAPHING TIGER IN INDIA
|
| |
Many people dreamed about traveling to exotic places. Our dream
came true when we visited Central India in March 2007 tracking
tigers. Searching
for pugmarks, keeping our
eyes for sign of dragged killing
and listening to alarm calls. We stayed at the Taj Wilderness Resort
which was voted one of the top 100 hotels in the world. Here is an audio interview with

life
Gorgeous Ginger Through The Camera Lens presented by
John Arifin
for the 4th International Ginger Symposium
|
4th
International Symposium on the family Zingiberaceae Singapore
3-6 July 2006 Singapore Botanic Gardens. John's story on ginger was
published in Asia Geographic
Magazine in
2007
Ginger is one of the wondrous inhabitants of the
rain forest. Not only the ginger flowers are so vibrant, colourful
and intricate, the roots are edible and have vital ingredients for
authentic food all across Asia. |
Yet you don't see gingers being presented and portrayed in their
most photogenic ways. They are either dried up specimens, dead or
worst still all chopped up. If they are alive, their flowers are
always overpowered by the electronic flash light from the camera so
that the entire ambient become totally nocturnal or pitched dark.
How can we depict ginger in a more gingerly and amicable way so that
we can bring the beauty of the species into the realm of the
majestic rainforest in its original glorious habitat or in the
grandeur of the tropical garden or simply put, just like the way
gingers spice up out food? |
The vibrant colours, the
intricate flowers of the gingers and their natural habitats will be
presented by John Arifin, who is a nature photographer and ginger
enthusiast. He traveled and photographed gingers in South East Asia.
Through his camera lens, he will show how gorgeous ginger could be.

Birding Indonesia
Sulawesi Indonesia -Bird Expedition, Operation Wallacea
|

We visited the northern part of the island near the town of Manado
and the southern island of Boton. The photo above shows the very
inviting crystal clear water in the little island near Buton. |

The endemic Red-knobbed Hornbill was photographed near Tangkoko / Nusadua Nature
Reserve. One of the two more spectacular species that can be found in
Sulawesi. Weights about 2 kg. One of the largest of the 53 species in the world. |

The Black-naped Fruit Dove is seen above in the open habitat. The
island of Sulawesi in Indonesia is a fascinating place to explore the wildlife
of the Indonesian archipelago.

More birds of
Sulawesi coming soon in the photo gallery. |
